The Islamic Presentation Committee organized the 23rd edition of the Sulaiman Saleh Al-Ruhaimani Competition for the Memorization of the Holy Qur’an and the Prophetic Sunnah, aimed at non-Arabic-speaking Muslim expatriates and new reverts to Islam.
Director General of the Committee, Ammar Al-Kandari, stated that this year’s competition was launched under the theme “Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most just”, with over 1,000 male and female participants representing 23 nationalities. He noted that the awards ceremony for the winners will be held in May.
Al-Kandari emphasized that the large turnout reflects the competition’s wide reach and impact among non-Arabic-speaking Muslim communities and new Muslims, expressing his pride in the great Qur’anic achievements witnessed over the competition’s 23-year history.
He pointed out that the final rounds of the competition, held over two days, took place at the Committee’s main center in Al-Mulla Saleh Mosque for male participants, and at the women’s branch in Rawda for female participants.
Al-Kandari explained that the competition is divided into three categories: “youth, Muslim expatriates, and new reverts,” praising the dedicated efforts that fostered a spirit of competition and inspired participants to memorize the Qur’an and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
He stressed the importance of this initiative, describing it as the largest of its kind for non-Arabic speakers in Kuwait. It presents a remarkable opportunity for communities to compete in memorizing the Qur’an and Sunnah while leaving a meaningful impact on new Muslims who are taking their first steps in Islam, strengthening their bond with the Committee.
Al-Kandari concluded by extending his gratitude to the heirs of the late Sulaiman Saleh Al-Ruhaimani for their generous sponsorship of the competition for the 23rd consecutive year, appreciating their dedication to serving Islam and the Muslim community. He also commended the outstanding efforts of all those involved in organizing the event.
